jojo's book
« on: August 31, 2010, 03:08:11 AM »

Well hello everyone: it's been a while but I'm back with news of my book:
Remembering Robert: R.O.Lenkiewicz as told by his sitters, photographed and interviewed by Jojo
The book was supposed to have come out to correspond with my play based on Robert's life and work, back in 2008, unfortunately the person who had offered to finance the publication kept delaying it and so I was forced to wrestle it back from him, though it won't be as grand an affair, it will be beautiful and it is due out in October (the 15th to be exact)if you want to get some more information you can visit my temporary page: www.jojosworld.co.uk
I'll be checking back here regularly to face whatever questions or critisisms you may wish to throw at me, I've taken a deep breath so bring it on!
Finally, lots of people contacted me to offer snapshots of Robert for inclusion in a scrapbook section at the end of the book, unfortunately this has had to be one of the casualties of my reduced budget, instead I am only using a few and now want to credit those people with thier photos, I know it's a long-shot but I want to use a photo that Chris gave me, (she gave me several) but my lap top with her email contact details died a year ago and I haven't been able to find her to get her surname to ascribe the photo: I have one day left before I have to finalise the layout with the designers: Chris are you out there?
Thanks all. Catch you later.
xx

Hi Jojo

This isn't a question or a criticism ... I looked at your website and thought that I should say that the photo you used there of yourself could be bettered. Not that it matters, in the great scheme of things ... but perhaps a different pic would show you off to greater advantage?

Good that the book has at last been "wrested" back from your strange pretend benefactor.

Thanks Annie
The picture of me is pure vanity but I think it's the closest I ever got to being handsome! It was actually taken a few months after I met Robert for the first time back in the early eighties. So I know there are others but I like this one.
And yes bloody good that the book is back, I have always strived to be a man of honour and having to continually apologise to people for almost two years with consistently missed deadlines has been more painful than you can imagine: I lost my hair, became paralysed as a photographer and had a host of crappy things to live with, but now it's back and pretty soon my homage to Robert will be over and I can move on to my next "awfully big adventure."
Take care and hope you can make it to the book launch!

Welcome back JoJo.

As mentioned in previouis topics I have been very much looking forward to your new book and am pleased to see that you persisted with the project despite the problems you encountered. The samples on your webpage look excellent and I will definately be ordering a copy prior to launch.

One question, you mentioned the book being scaled back somewhat, are there still one hundred people or was that number reduced?

The scale back took the form of four paths, first it had to be a little smaller and no longer hard back, second it had to be a limited print run of a thousand copies, third, the first sixteen (of 208 pages) have to be in black and white and finally the section that was to have been a "scrapbook" of photos of Robert doing anything but painting or "posing" has had to be shrunk to just half a dozen or so images. If I can sell all the books, and of course it is a big "if" I would consider addressing all these points but I'm having to create this project on credit, a situation I never expected to be in, consequently I have to be cautious, however I can confirm that I have not reduced the number of sitters and that all their photos are in colour.

What do you know with just a few hours to go Chris got in contact: wow! technology works! Oh yes, and he's a man!!!
